We built Nutrition Ally around the values of inclusivity, informed care, kindness, collaboration, and sustainability.  We strive to live these values in every interaction and consider them in every company decision.

Inclusive

We welcome and accept everyone for their unique perspectives, preferences, and beliefs, regardless of their weight, gender, sexual preference, ethnicity, background, profession, or culture. We meet employees, clients, and referents where they are and create a safe and welcoming environment for all.

Inclusivity is an essential value in a counseling space and a work place to ensure that all individuals, regardless of their backgrounds, identities, or experiences, feel welcomed, respected, and valued. When people feel understood and validated within the context of their unique experiences, it enhances the therapeutic relationship and promotes trust. We aim to facilitate positive outcomes for all individuals working with and for Nutrition Ally.

Informed

Any advice or recommendations given are based on the latest evidence and take into account our client’s health status, preferences, and lifestyle. We are constantly learning and improving our knowledge.

An evidence-based approach means that our dietitians rely on the best available scientific research, combined with their professional expertise and client preferences, to inform their practice and ensure the highest level of quality, safety, and effectiveness in their nutrition recommendations and interventions. An an evidence-based approach ensures RDs stay abreast of emerging research and scientific advancements in the field of nutrition through ongoing education and professional development.

Kind

We believe in being kind, generous, and considerate to others and oneself. This includes giving honest feedback when it is helpful, and acting and speaking in a compassionate way.

We know nutrition can be a sensitive or challenging topic, so we approach these conversations with kindness, compassion, and empathy. We acknowledge every patient’s inherent worth and dignity, promoting a sense of self-worth and self-acceptance. We offer reflection and feedback that focuses on person's growth and improvement rather than criticism. Kind feedback acknowledges the person's efforts and strengths while gently addressing areas for improvement.

Collaborative

We believe the best results come from working together. We value team input and feedback and believe in building relationships with our clients and their healthcare providers to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Collaboration with patients plays a pivotal role in achieving optimal outcomes in nutrition counseling. When healthcare professionals and patients work together as a team, it fosters a sense of empowerment and shared responsibility for one's health. By actively involving patients in the decision-making process, their unique needs, preferences, and goals can be integrated into the nutrition plan. This collaborative approach ensures that patients feel heard, understood, and supported, which ultimately enhances their engagement and adherence to dietary recommendations.

Care coordination with doctors and therapists is vital in nutrition counseling to ensure comprehensive and holistic healthcare. Nutrition counseling is deeply interconnected with overall health, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals helps to address underlying medical conditions, psychological factors, and therapeutic interventions that may impact an individual's nutritional needs and goals. This collaborative approach maximizes the effectiveness of nutrition counseling, leading to comprehensive care that addresses the multidimensional needs of individuals seeking to optimize their health through dietary interventions.

Sustainable

We are committed to the lifelong wellbeing of our patients and promote behavior changes that will be manageable and effective over time.

A behavior-based approach is crucial for sustainable changes because it recognizes that our actions and habits ultimately determine our long-term outcomes. While knowledge about nutrition is important, simply providing information and guidelines is often insufficient for creating lasting change. Understanding the psychological and behavioral aspects of our relationship with food and making conscious choices is key. This approach acknowledges that change is a process and emphasizes small, incremental steps that can be maintained over time. It also takes into account individual preferences, motivations, and barriers, allowing for personalized strategies and support.
